- THE WORK
The Innovation & Performance Team is offering an impactful Service Designer temporary assignment. You will use your human-centered design skills to lead and build out a special Youth Connector project budgeted for 2025. This project focuses on evaluating and improving awareness and access to the City’s teen enrichment programs. You will work with youth to design, engage, and promote teen programming offered by the City and our partners.
Your focus will be on:
- Leading the end-to-end project management of Youth Connector
- Leading the research planning and execution as well as performance management design
- Developing a marketing strategy, materials and products using human-centered design
- Conducting process improvements and leading cross-departmental engagements
- Creating proposals for new policies and developing presentations/communications that translate data into easy-to-understand concepts and storytelling

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with peers and diverse partners
- Planned, conducted, and analyzed qualitative research through any/all of the following practices: user experience, human-centered design, interaction design, user research, data visualization, and service design
- Synthesized data gathered through design research to uncover and successfully communicate root cause insights, and have shared and defended an informed point of view using communication and storytelling skills
- Managed research, design, prototyping, development, and testing of products and services simultaneously and effectively, adjusting as needed to competing priorities
- Experience using digital collaboration tools such as MURAL and design tools like Figma or Canva.

This temporary assignment is classified as a Strategic Advisor 2, L17* and is part of a Collective Bargaining Agreement with PROTEC17. The salary range for this classification is $54.60 – $81.93, the target salary for this job is $64.28.
Work Location and Hours: This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Individual schedules will be based on agreement between the employee and management. Because of the nature of this work, there will be frequent off-site meetings. Based on the availability of the meeting participants, these meetings could be in the evening or on weekend days.
