What You’ll Be Doing

Working in our Digital Services Design Services Group, you’ll be supporting a range of exciting human-centred design projects, from initial research to final delivery.

Guided and mentored by experienced specialists, you’ll learn:

  • The fundamentals of design thinking that balance user, business and technology needs
  • How to create design deliverables such as user journeys, service blueprints, wireframes, prototypes and design guidelines
  • How we communicate and engage with our service users throughout the service design process to design solutions that meet their needs

As well as gaining valuable experience on the job, we’ll support you with a dedicated work-based learning programme where you’ll be able to:

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging design tools and techniques
  • Take part in mentoring and coaching, learning from experienced service designers
  • Complete a professional apprenticeship in Service Design

To be eligible for the apprenticeship learning programme, you’ll also need to meet these essential requirements:

Must be able to demonstrate: 

  • Familiarity with User-Centred Design Principles: Previous exposure to user research, design thinking, or human-centred design concepts.
  • Passion for Service Design and Innovation: Evidence of interest in service improvement, innovation, or creating user-friendly solutions, through personal projects, coursework, or volunteer work.

PLUS

Either:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 / grade C or above, including English and Maths
  • A minimum of 112 UCAS points made up of A Levels, including at least one STEM or Digital-focussed subject

OR

  • Equivalent professional work experience
